About Miss Amanda Kate

Hi, I'm Amanda!

I'm a teacher, mum, lifelong stationery lover and the person behind Miss Amanda Kate.

For as long as I can remember, I've loved having a planner. Through school, university and work, there was always a diary nearby filled with plans, lists and reminders.

Apparently, teacher planners started even earlier than that. As a child, I loved pretending to be a teacher, convincing my family to be my students and creating my own little 'teacher planner' where I'd mark attendance and make notes about my pretend lessons.

So when I became a teacher, you can imagine how excited I was to finally get my first real teacher planner.

Unfortunately, I didn't love it quite as much as I'd imagined I would.

The planner I wanted didn't exist yet

When I started teaching full time in 2015, I was so excited to have an official teacher planner of my own, but instead of becoming something I relied on every day, I found myself carrying it from class to class without really using it.

I wanted something different — a teacher planner that was bright, colourful and functional. Something that made staying organised easier and that I'd genuinely look forward to opening each day.

Eventually, I decided to create it myself.

From printable resources to teacher planners

I started Miss Amanda Kate in 2016, initially creating printable products to make life a little easier for teachers.

At the end of 2019, I took a much bigger leap and created my first physical Miss Amanda Kate Teacher Planner for the 2020 school year.

Since then, the range has continued to grow and evolve, but the purpose has stayed the same: creating practical, colourful products that help teachers stay organised and make their busy days just a little bit easier.

Designed by a teacher, for teachers

Education continues to be a huge part of my life. I began teaching in 2014 and have since worked across secondary and university education. Today, I also have the privilege of teaching emerging educators at university.

I'm continuing my own university studies too, and my experiences in education continue to shape Miss Amanda Kate and the products I create.

What makes me most proud

One of the most rewarding parts of Miss Amanda Kate is knowing that these planners end up on teachers' desks and in classrooms all around Australia.

The messages I receive from teachers telling me how much they love their planner, how many years they've been using one or how it has helped them stay organised mean more to me than I can properly explain. I'm incredibly grateful for the teachers who return year after year.

I'm also proud to work with talented Australian and international artists and to support Australian businesses by manufacturing our teacher planners here in Australia each year.

A little more about me

When I'm not working on Miss Amanda Kate, teaching or studying, you'll usually find me spending time with my family. I'm a mum, my husband is also a teacher, and life with our kids keeps us very busy!

I still love learning, podcasts and audiobooks, movies and, unsurprisingly, finding an excuse to buy nice stationery.

Miss Amanda Kate brings together so many things I love — teaching, creativity, organisation and helping other teachers — and I'm incredibly grateful that I get to share it with you.
